Echinacea purpurea | Purple Coneflower
Echinacea purpurea (aka purple coneflower) is an extremely popular native plant that's beloved by birds, butterflies, and other pollinators. It does a fabulous job of filling in where it's planted, so make sure it's planted somewhere that you wouldn't mind seeing a few more of them.
Fun random fact: see the spiky seedhead in the middle of the flower? The botanical name Echinacea comes from echino - the Greek word for hedgehog. If you're ever on Jeopardy and that helps you, you're welcome!
